Displaying a Track
In addition to the distance and elevation statistics that are displayed for the currently selected track the program has several other methods for displaying information about the track. You can generate an elevation profile for the track, you can generate a printer friendly map of the track, or, if you have Google Earth installed on your computer, you can display the track in Google Earth.
Elevation Profile
Clicking the "Profile" button will bring up a new window displaying an elevation profile for the selected track. The distance and elevation statistics are shown immediately below the elevation profile. The window may be printed by clicking on the print link at the bottom of the page.
There is a limit of 30 segments on tracks that you build a profile for. You can build a track of more than 30 segments but a profile will not be generated for it. The reason for that is because profiles are generated using a graphics program on the web server which tends to slow the server down and this is an effort to reduce the impact of GPS Tracker on the server. (See the FAQs.)
Print Map
Clicking the "Print Map" button will bring up a new window displaying a printer friendly version of the selected track. A smaller version of the elevation profile is shown below the map and the distance and elevation statistics are shown immediately below the elevation profile. The window may be printed by clicking on the print link at the bottom of the page.
Google Earth
Clicking the "Google Earth" button will download the current track in a .kml file that can be displayed in Google Earth. If you have the Google Earth Pro application installed on your computer you can click on the .kml file and open it in Google Earth Pro. If you don't have the application in stalled, you can go to Google Earth at https://earth.google.com load the .kml file there.
